Safeguarding

Friesland School recognises its responsibility to safeguard the welfare of its students and ensures that relevant and effective safeguarding practices exist and are actively promoted within the school. Staff in school, by law, have a duty to report any concerns that they may have that any child may be suffering significant harm, particularly as a consequence of possible abuse. All staff are governed by the DFE document: Keeping children safe in education: (Statutory guidance for schools and colleges) and by the Derbyshire Threshold Document for working with external agencies. These documents contain information on what schools and colleges should do and sets out the legal duties with which schools and colleges must comply in order to keep children safe. It is a Department for Education requirement that each school in the country nominates a senior member of staff who will have special responsibility for Child Protection.
