A Levels – Psychology, Business, General Studies
I have had a passion for understanding human behaviour for as long as I can remember. The teachers at Friesland Sixth Form provided me with a great platform which allowed my passion to flourish further. Teachers provided insightful lessons and additional support for students who wanted to go the extra mile. Instilling this drive and love for education early on is something that undoubtedly helped me during my university degrees.
Following my A Levels, I obtained a First Class Honours degree in Psychology from Sheffield Hallam University in 2017. I then obtained a Distinction in my Masters degree in Brain Imaging and Cognitive Neuroscience from the University of Birmingham in 2018. Finally, I completed my PhD in Experimental Psychology from the University of Leeds in 2022, passing with recognition of achieving Research Excellence. My research area involves using eye tracking and computational methods to understand human behaviour when interacting with manually driven and autonomous vehicles. After a brief stint working at the University of York, I now work as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Leeds where I am continuing my research into the interaction between humans and autonomous vehicles.
I would not be where I am today without the support that Friesland Sixth Form provided me. My advice to current students would be to keep working on or towards things that keep you engaged and excited, and in doing so your career will feel always be meaningful.
