Following a few weeks of away fixtures, the Derby County Football & Education students returned to Friesland on Wednesday with 3 home fixtures all taking place. For those new to Friesland, the school has a partnership with Derby County Community Trust allowing students to study within the schools sixth form alongside training and playing football for Derby County, for more information, visit the schools sixth form website.

The first game on Wednesday was the boys A team, after a winning start to the season in the league and cup where they most recently travelled away to Tranmere Rovers, the side came into the game full of confidence but it wasn’t to be their day on this occasion. They fell to defeat to a very good Sheffield United side. The boys B team however, followed the A team with a game V Birmingham City and recorded their first win of the season, netting 6 goals in a very good performance.

The final game of the day was the girls B team who were up against a good Man City side. As with the boys, the girls had got off to a good start, winning their previous 2 games. They went 1-0 and were feeling confident until Man City turned on the style and ended up winning the game fairly comfortably.

A busy return to football at Friesland this year with 3 games back to back, 1 win and 2 losses for the teams on their first outings on home soil, something that they will be looking to change in future weeks.
