Preparing for life after sixth form
As part of our statutory careers provision, all students will be entitled to a careers consultation with a qualified careers advisor, as well as opportunities to encounter employers, employees, HE and FE training providers.
There are many new and exciting challenges once you have left school. Some of you will go to University, others may stay at home but start to live more independently. At Friesland we address these issues in a fun and accessible way.
Every student at Friesland will have a dedicated Support Group session on their timetable. During this session students will be educated about real world and personal finance, from reading a payslip, to paying into a pension, student loans and personal debt. Over the year we work alongside a number of outside agencies to support the sessions and ensure that they are appropriate, engaging and useful for all students. For those students who choose to go straight into employment we offer workshops on applying for apprenticeships/employment as well as inviting speakers to talk to students about life as an apprentice. We also cover what to expect in a workplace environment once you have secured a role.
