Further Mathmatics Summary
The Further Mathematics A Level course is a separate qualification to the A Level Maths course and aims to both deepen and broaden your understanding. Further Maths both builds on from GCSE maths and A Level mathematics and is for those of you with a real interest and enjoyment in the subject of mathematics.
You will look at lots of new concepts and ideas including how we can solve any quadratic equations and go much further to look at complex numbers in details and their uses. We will also explore Decision maths, a very different branch of maths to that you will have studied at GCSE which introduces algorithms and graphs (as students have never seen before!), and is widely used in computer science and logistics. You will also be able to go further with the Mechanics part of the course studied in A Level maths.
It must be taken in addition to A Level Maths as it requires knowledge from the course in order to be able to access A Level Further Maths. The course is designed and sequenced so that you will be able to study both Further Maths and Maths alongside one another.
